Here is a preview of the project. Thanks to Carla (fifth portrait up on the left, next to her mom) and to Jay Bullis for inviting me to preview the project in the lobby of their terrific new space for the opening of Our Town. Serendipity! It's runs Nov 14 and 15.
If I didn't have to keep painting I'd be telling stories about half the people in these portraits.
Progress report:
While I'm right at 300 photos which would allow me to stop submissions, I'd looking for greater demographic balance, that is, I would like more photos of individuals from the African-American, Latino, VFW and farming communities. I got a great image of a guy in a pick up with the corn drying in the field behind him. Thanks for the help, Zeph.
Harass your friends and family to send a few more photos.
